Sandy and I have both loved shopping the used market for a long time. For Sandy, it goes all the way back to her childhood. She remembers being taken—along with her sister—to resale shops by their mother. One store in particular, located in Maryland, became a family favorite. Her mom developed a relationship with the owner and always found great deals on stylish outfits to wear to work.
Sandy and her sister enjoyed those trips, too. They could pick out clothes and accessories at prices their mom could easily say yes to. The thrill of finding hidden gems at great value stuck with Sandy into adulthood. She fondly remembers those days at “Think New” (now closed) and how far your dollar could go when you shopped resale. Why pay more when you can find amazing treasures for less?
After Sandy and I got married, she brought that love of resale shopping into our marriage. I affectionately nicknamed her “The Resale Snob.” She was famous for putting together stylish outfits—accessories and sometimes shoes included—and then proudly announcing, “All this for [X] dollars!” And sure enough, she always looked like a million bucks.
As time went on and our family grew, we continued the tradition with our boys. The best part? Telling them, “Sure, you can get all of that!” and watching their faces light up with joy.
The idea for Resaling has been in the works for a while. We’ve always felt that the resale industry is too often the forgotten industry—filled with amazing shops that don’t always have the marketing power to reach a wider audience.
Drawing on our combined experience in Marketing, Design, and Web Development, Sandy and I led the team in bringing Resaling to life – a platform designed to connect shoppers with resale shops. Online shopping may be booming, but there’s still nothing like seeing, touching, and experiencing items in real life. That’s where the magic is.
We hope you enjoy our site and welcome any suggestions for new features or improvements.
